The Redskins defense just took a major hit, as if a divisional loss to the Philadelphia Eagles wasn't enough.

Jonathan Allen, Washington's 2017 first-round pick out of the University of Alabama, suffered an MCL sprain, and is expected to miss several weeks as a result.

Washington put up an admirable effort with the likes of Case Keenum leading the offense, a truly impressive feat considering the circumstances. Yet, the Eagles were able to complete their second-half comeback and send Washington home unhappy despite an impressive early advantage.

Allen's absence will present one heck of a challenge on the Skins' defensive line, as they're already lacking much influence at that position to begin with. Yet, Allen was playing quite well until he got hurt, and the former Alabama stud leaves a gaping hole in the Washington defensive line as a result of the ailment.

The Redskins nearly surprised us all with a Week 1 victory on the road, but their pass rush was severely lacking late against the Eagles. Without Allen, the challenge of creating pressure from thin air becomes even greater.
