3 Reasons Chase Young Can Be Even Better Than Both Bosa Brothers in Washington

The Washington Redskins made the most obvious of picks at No. 2 overall in the 2020 NFL Draft, as they brought Ohio State defensive end and DMV native Chase Young back to the nation's capital. While former Buckeyes Joey and Nick Bosa were hyped-up, top three picks, both of them have lived up to billing in the NFL. Young, however, could be better than both of them right out of the gate in Washington thanks to these three important factors.

3. He's a Better Run Defender

Young was not only unblockable when rushing the quarterback, but he was routinely graded as one of the best run-stuffers in the league. Many top defensive ends are limited to obvious pass-rushing situations due to their deficiencies in that area, but Young is one of those rare prospects who can be expected to play all three downs in his first season while playing at an above-average level.

2. He'll Have More Help Around Him

A lot of top rookie pass rushers go to bad teams where they are expected to turn the defense around by themselves, leading to poor rookie seasons. Young won't need to worry about that in Washington. Not only does he have a defensive head coach in Ron Rivera, but he'll join a team that already has Montez Sweat, Ryan Kerrigan, Jonathan Allen, and Da'Ron Payne on that defensive line. The Redskins' front seven next year could be pretty scary.

1. He's a More Complete Pass Rusher

The likes of Jadeveon Clowney, Myles Garrett, and Mario Williams have all been billed as "generational pass rushers", but Young is one of the few that could back that hype up. His strength for a 265-pound edge is extremely impressive, and plus athletic traits paired with his patented explosion off the line of scrimmage make him one of the safest prospects in recent memory. Expect production in Year 1, Redskins fans.
