3 Red Sox Who Might Have Played Their Last Game in Boston

The Boston Red Sox roster has gone through a lot of changes as of late. After trading Mookie Betts to the Los Angeles Dodgers, the Sox have made it clear that they are looking to reduce payroll by any means necessary.

And if the 2020 MLB season ends up being fully cancelled, there are some players who won't be able to call Fenway Park their home ever again. That's no way to say goodbye, but this trio could be forced into that reality.

If the MLB season never takes place, Kevin Pillar may never play a real game for the Boston Red Sox. The veteran center fielder signed a one-year, $4.25 million contract with Boston this February, and was likely not going to be more than a stopgap outfielder, setting the Red Sox up to spend big in the winter of 2020-21 -- possibly on a certain former Red Sox superstar.

2. Brandon Workman

Brandon Workman has been part of Red Sox World Series teams in 2013 and in 2018, but his time in Boston may be coming to an end. After putting up a 1.88 ERA last season and earning time at closer, Workman looks ready for a pay increase. He will be a free agent after 2020, and may only be able to get that money elsewhere.

Boston defensive stud Jackie Bradley Jr. may have spent his last season roaming center field at Fenway. The lefty hitter was a key part of the 2018 World Series run for the Sox, winning ALCS MVP by sending in nine RBI against the Houston Astros. JBJ's contract is expiring after this season, and it could be his last with Boston.
