After struggling to find the right formula out of their bullpen all season, the Red Sox have apparently found a creative solution to solve their closer woes.

When starting pitcher Nathan Eovaldi gets activated off the IL, he will be inserted as the team's new closer, being handed the late-inning duties for the club.

Boston currently leads the league with 17 blown save opportunities, a number that seems to increase every time the Red Sox face a high leverage situation in the ninth inning. Despite the Red Sox claiming that they are content with their disastrous bullpen, it appears as if an internal makeover is going to be made.

Eovaldi throws hard, consistently hitting the high-90's with his fastball. His arsenal of pitches includes a four-seam fastball, slider, splitter, cutter, and a curveball, and when he is on he can be incredibly hard to hit.

Although his stuff may play well in just one inning of work, Eovaldi has made it clear that he does not want to be used out of the bullpen.

From a Red Sox standpoint, however, desperate times call for desperate measures, and with their struggles so far this year, Eovaldi seems like the best option at closer.

Perhaps he can regain some of the form that made him so electric to watch during Boston's World Series run in 2018.
