The Boston Red Sox organization has a potential disaster on its hands. The team reportedly sent Mookie Betts to the Los Angeles Dodgers this week in a deal that involved the Minnesota Twins.

Yet the deal is being held up because Twins prospect Brusdar Graterol, who is supposed to head to Boston, has some questions surrounding his health and his future outlook in the league. Was new Red Sox executive Chaim Bloom totally unaware of this before the trade?

Not knowing that Graterol may be best suited as a reliever would be an inexcusable scenario for the Red Sox. A team can't make a trade only to start throwing out questions about knowledge that has been widely reported.

Graterol had Tommy John surgery in the past, which could be a topic of conversation between Bloom and the Twins. But he was included in the initial trade, so it is mind-boggling to think of how objections just started to arise.

While it still seems likely this deal will go through, the fact we've even gotten this far without the appropriate questions being raised by Boston (in a trade in which they're getting rid of their franchise cornerstone) is questionable at best.

Bloom got his new position last October. Bungling the Betts trade isn't a great start.
