While Boston Red Sox starter Nathan Eovaldi has missed almost two months with an elbow injury, it appears that it won't be a long-term issue.

General manager Dave Dombrowski did concede that Eovaldi, who missed the entire 2017 season with Tommy John surgery, has been out longer than anticipated, but asserted that his elbow and bicep injuries won't be anything that will handicap him beyond this year.

Eovaldi, having already etched his name in Red Sox lore following a dominant postseason, has been out since mid-April after he needed to have loose bodies in his elbow removed. His rehab was further complicated with a bicep injury that forced him to be shut down.

Without him, and with Chris Sale and Rick Porcello still not where they need to be, the rotation has been in tatters, with seemingly a new minor leaguer being called up from Triple-A Pawtucket every day.

In a complete 180 of previous years, Eovaldi, famously inconsistent during his time as a Marlin and a Yankee, is now being relied upon to provide stability to a helter-skelter rotation.
