This past week has been one to forget for the Boston Red Sox thanks to the Mookie Betts trade drama, but it seems as though some solace is on the horizon.

According to Jon Heyman, MLB's investigation into the team's alleged sign-stealing is likely to yield a much lighter punishment than the one the Houston Astros received.

Heyman said that he "heard latest investigations into Red Sox will find far less serious transgressions than were found with Astros," adding that a verdict could come as soon as next week.

It's not much, but it's better than receiving the same punishment that the Astros did.

It also helps repair the team's reputation just a tad. Yes, they still cheated, but at least it doesn't seem to be on as grand of a scale as the Astros' scheme.

A lighter punishment benefits them in the long run, and it also let's them turn their focus more towards the inevitable damage control that's now necessary as a result of the aforementioned Betts trade snafu.

Things aren't going well on Boston, but at least they're not as bad as they could be.
