The Boston Red Sox are still hanging on to the past, as they believe that Dustin Pedroia can be an integral part of their plan of attack for the 2020 season.

New GM Chaim Bloom said that Pedroia has given him "every indication" that he intends to play next season despite the fact that he is 36 and hasn't had much of an impact in quite some time.

Pedroia might be owed around $15 million for next season, but he has barely been able to get on the field over the last two seasons. In just nine games in 2018 and 2019, the four-time All-Star and 2008 MVP collected just three hits in 31 at-bats, good for an OPS+ of -24 (100 is average).

Pedroia will forever be a legend at Fenway, but the last few years have been absolutely brutal to watch, and he shouldn't be kept on a roster that is vying for a World Series simply for sentimental reasons.
