3 Ways the Red Sox and Dodgers Can Save the Mookie Betts Trade

The Red Sox and Dodgers must be as tired of the Mookie Betts discussion as baseball fans are. While Boston received much initial flack for trading the face of their franchise to Los Angeles, at this point both sides would like to get the deal done and move on, per various reports. The gap between the two sides is relatively small, and the Red Sox and Dodgers are working tirelessly to eliminate any concerns.

3. Dodgers Take Brusdar Graterol, Trade Another Prospect

It may be too late to keep the Twins in this deal, but by adding Brusdar Graterol to their own prospect stash, the Dodgers could very well identify their closer of the future. Not to mention, it frees them up to trade one of their own prospects to Boston (along with Alex Verdugo, obviously), to eliminate their concerns over Graterol's medicals.

2. Dodgers Take on More of David Price's Salary

The Dodgers had agreed to take on some of Price's remaining contract, which is a large reason the Red Sox are trading Betts in the first place, in hopes of pairing the two. If Los Angeles offers to pay more of Price's remaining deal, then perhaps they can take the middle man (third team) out of the conversation entirely.

1. Pick Another Third Team

I mean, does this really have to be so difficult? While the Dodgers put in a lot of effort to orchestrate, essentially, four different trades at once, they ought to have the motivation to find a different 'third team' to throw in a prospect for a pitcher as valuable as Kenta Maeda. This time, Boston will hopefully do their homework beforehand.
