The first coaching casualty of the 2019 NFL season is Jay Gruden, who was fired by the Washington Redskins in the wee hours of Monday morning after the team's dreadful 0-5 start. Of course, with Jay taking over the headlines in Week 6, it's only fitting to get a word from his older brother, Oakland Raiders head coach, Jon.

The eldest Gruden brother stood up for Jay during his weekly press conference on Tuesday, but officially welcomed him "to the club."

"I'm obviously very disappointed for my brother," Gruden said, via ESPN. "It was a long night, last couple of nights. He worked hard. Got a lot of respect for my brother. Obviously, disappointed for him getting fired.

"My dad's been fired. I've been fired. Jay's been fired and ... welcome to the club, bro."

Jon knows a thing or two about being fired. After four seasons with the Raiders, the franchise traded him to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers that netted Oakland a plethora of draft picks and cash. In his first season with the Buccaneers, Gruden defeated his then-former team in Super Bowl XXXVII. However, Tampa fired Gruden following the 2008 season, despite having a 112-57 overall record.

While Jay could remain on the unemployment line for the remainder of the season, he'll likely end up on some team's coaching staff by next year. One possible destination could be the Los Angeles Rams, as head coach Sean McVay worked under Gruden during his time with Washington.

Of course, the Raiders can't be ruled out either.

Jon let Jay and the public know that he knows that feeling...bro.
