The Oakland Raiders secondary is fresh off intercepting Philip Rivers three times in a win over the Los Angeles Chargers on Thursday Night Football. Unfortunately, however, their depth will take a significant blow as starting safety Karl Joseph was spotted wearing crutches after the game.

Well, fast forward to Saturday and those fears were confirmed as the Raiders placed Joseph on season-ending injured reserve.

In a pair of corresponding moves, Oakland signed defensive end Dion Jordan and safety DJ Swearinger, per NFL insider James Palmer. To make room on the roster, the Raiders have reportedly waived linebacker Quentin Poling, who they had called up from the practice squad earlier in the week.

Swearinger has bounced around the league across his first seven seasons, and he most recently played for the Arizona Cardinals this season, recording 28 tackles in four appearances.

For his career (94 games), he has logged 292 solo tackles, 14 interceptions, 40 passes defended, and nine forced fumbles. His 11 INTs since 2016 are good for the second-most among safeties.

That play-making ability will likely lead to Swearinger seeing the field a lot for the Raiders in the wake of Joseph's injury.

Jordan, on the other hand, is a former third-overall pick of the Miami Dolphins back in 2013. He has spent the past two campaigns with the Seattle Seahawks.

Since entering the league, the Oregon product has started just four games (43 overall appearances) and has compiled 77 tackles, 8.5 sacks, and two forced fumbles.

The Raiders are desperate for pass-rushing help, and Jordan could carve out a significant role on Jon Gruden's defense if he impresses early on.
