Pro Football Writers Snub Packers Yet Again With Recent Awards Announcement

Does the NFL have a vendetta against the Green Bay Packers?

On Friday, Ravens head coach John Harbaugh, 49ers GM John Lynch and Ravens OC Greg Roman were named the head coach, executive, and assistant of the Year by the Professional Football Writers of America.

The Packers, who finished with a 13-3 record in 2019 and are slated to appear in the NFC Championship Game this weekend, didn't even get a sniff at the hardware.

This isn't necessarily a knock on Harbaugh, Lynch and Roman, either. Each of them has done a spectacular job. However, the snub trend surrounding Green Bay this campaign is staggering.

It starts with star tailback Aaron Jones, who somehow wasn't named to the Pro Bowl. At the time, Jones was tied for the NFL lead with 14 rushing touchdowns compiled well over 1,200 yards from scrimmage.

Then, of course, there's breakout LB sensation Za'Darius Smith, who was left off of the Pro Bowl AND All-Pro rosters. Apparently 13.5 sacks, 37 QB hits, and 17 tackles for loss isn't good enough.

And to top it off, GM Brian Gutekunst, who drafted exceptionally -- safety Darnell Savage and offensive guard Elgton Jenkins were named to the All-Rookie Team -- and worked magic to bring the likes of Za'Darius and Preston Smith aboard in the offseason, was snubbed of the NFL's latest honor.

What else do the Packers need to do to earn some respect? Unreal.
