3 Players Who Won't Be on the Cavaliers Roster Next Year if 2019-20 Season Doesn't Continue

The Cleveland Cavaliers are due for a series of changes this offseason. The rebuilding squad has been dealing with a lot of turnover since LeBron James left for the Los Angeles Lakers in the summer of 2018, and in the long view, the evolution is only beginning.

If the 2019-20 NBA season doesn't ever resume, it's safe to say that a number of Cavs will have already played their last game in The Land, starting with this trio.

3. Matthew Dellavedova

The Cleveland Cavaliers brought Matthew Dellavedova back to Cleveland in 2018 as part of a three-team trade that sent George Hill to Milwaukee. Although a fan favorite after his appearance in the Cavs' 2016 NBA championship run, there's little place for him in a Cleveland backcourt that already sports young options like Collin Sexton, Kevin Porter Jr., and Darius Garland. With his contract expiring this summer, Delly should be expected to head elsewhere.

2. Tristan Thompson

Tristan Thompson has spent his entire career with the Cleveland Cavaliers, after being selected with the No. 4 pick in the 2011 NBA Draft. This ninth season with the Cavs figures to be his last, as his name was frequently mentioned in trade and buyout rumors this season. He'll be a free agent this summer, and there is no reason for a useful veteran like Thompson to want to remain even if the team was keen to re-sign him.

1. Kevin Love

It's astounding that Kevin Love is still a member of the Cleveland Cavaliers. The team's decision to sign Love to a four-year, $120 million contract extension in 2018 despite losing LeBron James was baffling. Love has appeared in trade talks almost since the moment he signed that deal. Moving that weighty contract will not be easy, but Love has made it clear that he wants to play somewhere else.
