The Atlanta Braves have won two straight National League East titles, only to fall short in the NLDS both times. The roster is filled with young talent and the hope is that the postseason struggles will serve as learning experiences and turn into successes.

The Braves lost Josh Donaldson in free agency this offseason and could use a veteran addition or two once the MLB signing freeze is lifted later this week. A few players stand out as top targets for the Braves to pursue.

3. Aaron Sanchez

Aaron Sanchez began his career with the Toronto Blue Jays and was traded to the Houston Astros in 2019. He remains on the market after suffering a shoulder injury that ended his season. The 2016 All-Star once looked like a future ace in Toronto and the Braves can sign him as the ultimate low-risk, high-reward move. Sanchez has a career 3.98 ERA and is turning 28 years old in July. This is a pitcher who went 15-2 in 2016, so it's possible the Braves can unlock that potential assuming he's healthy.

2. Scooter Gennett

Scooter Gennett had a rough 2019 season that saw him get traded from the Cincinnati Reds to the San Francisco Giants, only to be released after 21 games. The second baseman was an All-Star in 2018 and injuries limited his potential in 2019. He stands out as a great backup option for the Braves and is only one year removed from a 3.3 WAR campaign. Gennett needs to redeem himself and can do so by performing well in limited action with Atlanta. His experience can also help a young Braves infield.

1. Andrew Cashner

The Braves went out and signed Cole Hamels to an $18 million contract this offseason to provide stability the rotation. He suffered an injury earlier this year, but should now be ready after the delayed start to the year. But Atlanta still needs depth and Andrew Cashner would be a smart target. The right-hander can contribute as a starter and a reliever and has experience in the National League. The veteran has gone well over 100 innings every season since 2013 and has proven to be a durable option.
