Pittsburgh Writer Has Brutal Take About Derek Dietrich Pimping Home Runs

Let's flashback to April 7, when Reds outfielder Derek Dietrich launched a ball into the Allegheny River off of Pirates starter Chris Archer. Dietrich stood at home plate for an extended period of time before eventually breaking into his home run trot.

In the next at bat, Archer threw behind Dietrich, escalating things into a brawl.

Fast forward to Memorial Day Monday, and, wouldn't you know it, Dietrich decided to pimp another homer off of Pirates pitching. Though it's sort of innocent and simply what comes with the territory when you surrender monster dingers (especially to people you've tried to fight in the past), one Pittsburgh writer thought he should settle down...based on the standings.

Pittsburgh writer Kevin Gorman certainly has a lot to say about the topic, and believes that throwing at Dietrich is a justifiable move.

The Reds are in the basement of the NL Central, but that shouldn't affect whether or not it's alright for them to show up their opponents. Dietrich didn't do anything other than admire the ball here, really. Why should he put his head down and trot to first simply because he's in last place?

You can understand Pittsburgh's gripe with Dietrich, but the Reds' position in the standings shouldn't have anything to do with it.
