British television personality Piers Morgan is known for his hot takes on a variety of topics. You know, the guy who interpreted Alex Morgan's tea-sipping celebration in the Women's World Cup as... yes, smoking marijuana! On Thursday, he decided his target of the day would be the NFL.

As he watched England defeat the United States in the 2019 Rugby World Cup, Morgan expressed his belief that rugby players would defeat NFL players in either sport if you removed those pesky helmets and pads.

Look, major credit to the English rugby team, but how does the performance of Team USA relate to the talent of NFL players in any way whatsoever?

That's what former NFL safety Will Blackmon is asking right about now.

Former New York Giants defensive end Chris Canty also entered the debate floor, and gave Morgan's assertion the business it deserved.

Morgan opened up the floodgates, with many calling for England's rugby team to face off against "Team NFL." Could you imagine two-time Defensive Player of the Year Aaron Donald playing rugby?

All Piers Morgan had to do was congratulate England for their win on Thursday, but decided to play the role of troll and rile up the NFL fan base just for the heck of it. Pretty much par for the course for this guy.
