Memphis head coach Mike Norvell might be named the newest coach of Florida State within the next 24 hours, but we're not sure if this photo from his playing days at Central Arkansas is going to instill any confidence in the hearts of Seminole players.

After all, when you know your coach looked like this when he was playing college football, can you really take him that seriously?

Yes. Yes, you absolutely can.

Regardless of his braids and weak mustache game, Norvell was a stud wide receiver for the Central Arkansas Bears, and actually set their all-time record for career receptions with 213. Combine that with 2,611 yards and 15 receiving touchdowns, and you have a pretty darn good wideout on any level of college football.

After his playing days concluded, he was hired as the head coach of Memphis in 2015 and immediately stabilized the program, going 37-15 over four years and three straight first-place finishes in the west division of the American Athletic Conference.

Now, he'll be taking over at Florida State, who will be praying that he can return the program to the state it was in during the glory days of Jimbo Fisher.

Before he does that, however, he has an AAC championship game to win against the Cincinnati Bearcats on Saturday.
