A lot of major league pitchers wear glasses in order to help overcome issues with vision. Julio Urias and Sean Doolittle are a pair that immediately spring to mind.

Well, Philadelphia Phillies reliever JD Hammer may have the best frames of them all.

During Wednesday night's game against the Washington Nationals, Hammer came in relief of Pat Neshek, who left the game due to injury. As a result, baseball fans were treated to Hammer's hipster style glasses and immediately took social media by storm.

In all seriousness, those look like the same glasses that "Major League" character Ricky "Wild Thing" Vaughn. In fact, there's a link between Hammer and the fictional movie pitcher.

After his first season with the Phillies organization in 2016, Hammer noticed that he had vision issues, citing that he couldn't see the catcher's signals. Hammer tried contact lenses, but found them uncomfortable.

That was when Hammer opted for glasses, and in his words, wanted 'Ricky Vaughn-style' frames.

And now, Hammer has become social media's favorite baseball player, thanks to his thick black glasses.
