The emergence of the likes of Gleyber Torres, DJ LeMahieu, and Gio Urshela has left the New York Yankees with too many cooks in the infield kitchen. With Didi Gregorius a free agent, following the most disappointing season since his power breakout amid Tommy John rehab, he could be on his way out of the Bronx.

As the rumor mill picks up steam, Philadelphia could be a potential landing spot, as the Phillies are expected to go hard after Didi.

Gregorius going to Philadelphia would reunite him with Joe Girardi, who managed the man for three lucrative seasons as a Yankee.

While Didi's offensive production increased in each of his first four years with the Yankees, as he improved his nine-homer campaign in 2015 to 20, 25, and 27 from 2016-18, respectively, 2019 was a complete bust. Didi hit 16 home runs, but only managed a .238 batting average and never looked in command at the plate.

Maybe a change of scenery in Philly is just what he needs.

Additionally, though...what becomes of Segura, someone who's done nothing but hit everywhere he's gone?

Segura hit .280 with 12 home runs in 2019 while hitting over .300 in the three previous seasons, so one of the best middle infielders in baseball could become available if the Phillies do indeed go after Gregorius.
