The much-anticipated pay-per-view 40-yard dash contest featuring a slew of NFL stars is still set to happen.

The made-for-TV event entitled "40 Yards of Gold" is set to cost $39.95 and is scheduled to happen on June 29.

The event will follow a bracket-style format featuring a total of 15 races.

A host of NFL stars are expected to participate in the 16-player event, including the likes of 49ers receiver Marquise Goodwin, Saints receiver Ted GinnJr. and Saints running back Alvin Kamara.

A handful of players who were previously expected to participate, however, are no longer expected to run. Exciting names like Tarik Cohen and Budda Baker are now out.

Concerns have been raised over the injury risk the event poses to the athletes, and it's easy to see why. A high-stress, repetitive race could lead to nagging hamstring issues that hinder players' performances during the regular season.

It's a novel concept to say the least. As to whether or not people will shell out $40 to watch the single-elimination racing tournament remains to be seen.
