UPDATE:

Josh Gordon's season is apparently NOT over. His Patriots season, however, is. Gordon will apparently become a free agent when he is healthy enough to sign with another team.

After a remarkable comeback in which Josh Gordon was able to overcome personal issues most of us couldn't imagine, the Patriots wide receiver faces another hurdle.

Gordon suffered what looked to be a severe knee injury against the New York Giants on Thursday Night Football back on Oct. 10. After delaying what we now know was the inevitable, New England has placed Gordon on injured reserve.

As it turns out, there was more to New England's acquisition of Mohamed Sanu than meets the eye.

For the first time since 2013, Gordon had put a together a string of productivity, both on and off the field. His talent still cannot be denied, even though his numbers don't necessarily mirror that of his enormous Pro Bowl season several years ago. Gordon had 20 receptions for nearly 300 yards, averaging an effective 14.4 yards per reception, just a notch below his career average.

Despite the acquisition of Sanu, the Patriots wide receiving corps is still in question moving forward, with Phillip Dorsett and rookie N'Keal Harry asked to play critical roles in New England's playoff push.
