Patriots Get Tremendous Injury Update on Julian Edelman After Preseason Scare
By Michael Luciano

New England Patriots wide receiver Julian Edelman, Tom Brady's ace in the slot, left their final preseason game against the New York Giants with a hand injury, which instantly threw the New England sideline into chaos.
Luckily for Edelman, he didn't re-injure the thumb that had plagued him of late, and was only taken out of the game as a precaution. He is not expected to miss any time.
#Patriots WR Julian Edelman left last night’s preseason game earlier than planned, but my understanding is he did not re-injure his thumb. And his hand, the one he landed on, is fine. A minor scare for Edelman, but nothing major.

The injury may have looked worse than it actually was on TV, as the initial imagery made it seem like Edelman could miss a large chunk of time.

Edelman caught 74 passes for 850 yards and six touchdowns last season, in which he emerged as the No. 1 target in the passing game following the decline (and eventual retirement) of Rob Gronkowski.
Edelman will join a suddenly stacked wide receiver group that includes Josh Gordon, Demaryius Thomas, first-round pick N'Keal Harry, and speedster Phillip Dorsett.

Fear not, Patriots fans. The best wide receiving corps you've had in a decade is still ready to go, as Edelman will be back in time for Week 1 against the Steelers.
