New England Patriots fans got a scare on Sunday when Julian Edelman was knocked out of the Pats-Jets matchup with what was initially announced as a chest injury.

But according to NFL insider Ian Rapoport, it appears that Edelman avoided a serious injury, with X-Rays on a presumed rib injury coming back negative.

Tom Brady will be ecstatic to hear that news, especially with a depleted receiving corps that's gone through the Antonio Brown saga and the surprise trade of Demaryius Thomas to the Jets. As if that would ever stop Brady from winning games.

Edelman had taken a hard hit late in the second quarter, and his return to the game was initially deemed questionable. Shortly thereafter, it was announced that he would not be returning, with Gillette holding its collective breath.

Before his exit from the game, Edelman posted seven receptions for 62 yards and a touchdown. The three-time Super Bowl champion and former Super Bowl MVP has served as a reliable slot wideout for the past ten years with the Patriots, and this news will certainly be well received by Bill Belichick and the Foxborough faithful.
