The writing was on the wall after he showed up at Patriots practice in pads, and it's now official: Josh Gordon has passed a physical and gotten himself activated off the NFL's non-football injury list.

Flash is back.

The New England Patriots were already going to look a lot different out wide this year given that Rob Gronkowski is out and Demaryius Thomas and N'Keal Harry are in, but having Gordon raring to go in time for Week 1 is a serious game-changer, especially in terms of familiarity.

The defending champs have proven that they can win titles without overwhelming talent at the skill positions; Sunday's development simply makes them all the more dangerous in the vertical passing game.

Gordon has battled substance issues throughout his career, and was only recently reinstated by the NFL. But given how short a leash he assuredly has in light of it all, passing muster with the Pats' medical staff means something.
