Patrick Mahomes has become a superstar for the Kansas City Chiefs in only his third NFL season. He is under contract in 2020 and has a fifth-year option that will obviously be picked up for 2021. Still, the Chiefs would be wise to extend Patrick Mahomes as soon as possible to keep him happy and to lock him up on a long-term deal.

If for some reason the Chiefs need any more proof as to why he needs an extension, a few plays stand out as classics from Mahomes' young career.

3. Using His Legs

Patrick Mahomes is known for his big arm, but he has also shown success running the ball. The Chiefs were trailing the Tennessee Titans in the AFC Championship Game with time running out in the half. Mahomes responded with a touchdown run that made him look like Lamar Jackson. He juked defenders, tip-toed the sidelines, and broke tackles on his way to the end zone.

2. Slinging it Sideways

Mahomes is always capable of making a ridiculous side-armed throw. One of his best came last postseason as Mahomes was able to lower his arm angle to get the ball around his own lineman and past the defender for a perfect pass only his receiver could catch. The Chiefs are never out of a play on offense and Mahomes can make throws other can't by changing his arm angle.

1. The Effortless Deep Ball

Mahomes paired with speedy receivers is an impossible combo to defend. He showed why earlier this year when he connected deep with Mecole Hardman. Mahomes threw the ball about 50 yards off his back foot while drifting backwards. He can throw it that distance at will and his strength allows him to make just about any throw on a football field.
