Packers S Josh Jones Reportedly Skipping OTAs in Hopes of Being Traded
By Jerry Trotta

When NFL players voluntarily sit out of OTAs, more often than not they generally want something.
That could range from a new contract, an extension, or as simple as trying to remain "fresh" for the regular season (i.e. Le'Veon Bell).
In the case of Green Bay Packers safety Josh Jones, however, he wants out of town. Per ESPN Packers reporter Rob Demovsky, the former North Carolina State product has requested a trade and thinks a change of scenery would be best for both sides. In the meantime, he'll be working out in Florida.
Packers safety Josh Jones is skipping the voluntary OTAs and working out in Florida because he’s hoping to be traded, a source told ESPN. The source said the 2017 second-round pick believes it would be best for both parties if they parted ways. Story coming on ESPN shortly.

A potential move would make sense for both sides. The 2017 second-round pick (61st overall) was jumped on the depth chart by 2018 undrafted rookie Kentrell Brice last season. Additionally, Green Bay splashed the cash on Bears free agent safety Adrian Amos and used their No. 21 overall pick to select S Darnell Savage out of Maryland.
Jones' best game in the league came in Week 3 of his rookie season in a victory over the Cincinnati Bengals, during which he recorded two sacks and 12 total tackles.
Jones has never gotten the chance for consistent playing time and with the offseason acquisitions of safeties Adrian Amos (free agency) and Darnell Savage Jr. (first-round pick), that may not change. https://t.co/vW2yWN2E0t

Unfortunately for Jones, that was the only bright side of his rookie campaign, and his sophomore season wasn't much better.
The Packers hoped to play him more as a hybrid linebacker this upcoming year because he was mostly confused in coverages while playing DB in 2018. But it looks like the franchise isn't going to get that chance.
