In what's becoming an unfortunate trend among several of the Packers most prominent players over the past two seasons, Za'Darius Smith is the latest Green Bay contributor to face a marijuana-related incident in court.

Smith was pulled over at a traffic stop on Sept. 29 after allegedly driving 81 mph in a 60 mph zone, while traveling with teammates Rashan Gary and Kingsley Keke. While stopped, police smelled an odor coming from Smith's vehicle and promptly searched the car, reportedly finding several blunts and a vaping cartridge.

Upon questioning, Smith offered to take the fall and reportedly told the police the drug paraphernalia belonged to him, thus clearing the other two Packers players.

It's unknown if Smith will face possible punishment from the NFL for an alleged violation of the league's substance abuse policy. He would be the third Packer suspended in the past two years for such an offense, joining Aaron Jones and Alex Light. Smith, for his part, has been a vital member of the Packers' pass rush so far this season.

Being without the 27-year-old for any length of time would be a major loss for this defense. For now, he'll wait for the league's decision after a potential court date set for next Monday, for which Smith is not required to attend in person.
