What has been one of the weaknesses on the Green Bay Packers? Their lack of talent and depth in the secondary. That's still the case heading into the upcoming season, which is why they were reportedly interested in safety Jalen Thompson in today's supplemental draft.

However, they passed on Thompson, allowing the Arizona Cardinals selected him in the fifth round.

Thompson was widely viewed as the best possible pick in the supplemental draft -- there were only five total players eligible -- so it's not a shock that he was picked. However, why did the Packers not step up and take him?

He was a highly-regarded prospect, and not only did they have interest, but he fills a need for Green Bay. Thompson may be smaller that most of the secondary players the Packers target for their defense, but he's talented enough to make the roster and help this team out.

During his time at Washington State, Thompson compiled 190 tackles, 11 sacks, six interceptions, 17 passes defended and two forced fumbles during his three seasons.
