Packers Announce Strange and Amazing Fan Giveaway Featuring Lambeau Field Grass Seeds
By Sean Facey

The Green Bay Packers are coming up on their 100th season this year and they've found a strange but incredibly fun way to celebrate it with the fans.
The team announced a giveaway in which they'll be giving Lambeau Field grass seeds to the first 5,000 fans who attend their celebration on August 11. As an added bonus, one in every 50 of the packets is autographed by a Packers player.

Talk about an awesome and unique promotion. Those lucky 5,000 fans will have the chance to grow their own Lambeau grass right in their backyard. Maybe the seeds can help make pickup football games feel just a bit more authentic.
Lambeau Field's iconic grass has seen plenty of historic moments. It's considered hallowed ground in the football world. For the Packers to offer up the chance for fans to own it themselves is fantastic.
Cool: @packers celebrating 100th birthday on Aug. 11 by giving away seeds that grow the same grass that makes up the field at Lambeau. First 5,000 fans get a free packet, 1 in 50 will be autographed by a Packers player. Fans can then put on a digital map where they have planted. pic.twitter.com/6I1NlXe7BC

It's also a good way to keep the fans engaged with the team, something the Packers desperately need to focus on. The storied franchise spent record amounts of money last season, so fan engagement driven by free promotions like this one is vital.
Revenue reports aside, though, this is the chance for all of the Packers fans out there who have dreamed of creating their own piece of Green Bay history. The seeds are there for the taking, just waiting to be sewn.
