Ohio State Assistant Mike Yurcich Named Offensive Coordinator at Texas

The Ohio State Buckeyes lost to Clemson in the Fiesta Bowl Saturday, and one member of their coaching staff is already leaving the program.
Mike Yurcich joined the Buckeyes in 2019 as passing game coordinator and quarterbacks coach. After one season in Columbus, he is now departing to become the offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach for the Texas Longhorns.

Yurcich returns to the Big 12 after spending 2013-2018 as the offensive coordinator at Oklahoma State. While he helped make Justin Fields into a star at OSU, the possibility of a promotion was too good to pass up. It's on to Austin.
#Texas has their new offensive coordinator in Mike Yurcich. Was the QB coach and passing gam coordinator for #OhioState this year.

Yurcich was the OC/QB coach at #OklahomaState from 2013-2018.
Was nominated for the Broyles award (top assistant coach in CFB) in 2016 and 2017. https://t.co/3N0KQKMHn3
In Yurcich, Texas gets a coach who worked with a Heisman finalist in 2019 and already has experience calling plays in the Big 12. His knowledge of various offensive styles will only help a Texas program seeking a return to greatness under head coach Tom Herman.
Ohio State now needs to find a new coach to work directly with Fields and will see if the coach made the quarterback, or if it was the other way around.
