One-Loss Teams That Can Still Make the College Football Playoff

Undefeated teams have been dropping like flies in the college football world over the past few weeks. There have been a handful of surprising upsets that have put teams that looked like locks for the College Football Playoff on the outside looking in. But hope isn't all lost for these one-loss wonders. Some of them still have an outside shot at making the playoff.

3. Oregon

Ever since they lost their season-opener to Auburn, Oregon has quietly won eight-straight games. Quarterback Justin Herbert has done a good job of protecting the ball and driving the Ducks down field on a consistent basis. If the Ducks can pile up some convincing wins during the back end of their schedule against Pac-12 opponents, and other teams fall, they might just be able to make an appearance in the playoff for the first time since 2014.

2. Oklahoma

In their only loss of the year, the Sooners still managed to put up 41 points against Kansas State, coming one onside kick away from potentially forcing overtime. Even at their worst, they've still proven to be a fireworks show worth watching. With Heisman hopeful Jalen Hurts under center and Lincoln Riley at head coach, anything is possible for this explosive Oklahoma squad, but they'll need some help.

1. Georgia

The Bulldogs looked dead and buried after their shocking loss to South Carolina, but they've responded in the best possible way. On Saturday, they handed the Florida Gators a sound 24-17 loss to move to 7-1 on the year. They've still got one more game against a ranked opponent in Auburn, and if they can pull off the win there and not lose through the SEC Championship, then they have a real shot of wiggling their way into the playoffs.
