The Oklahoma Sooners under head coach Lincoln Riley has been lauded for their Heisman-winning quarterbacks and high-powered offenses. However, what has kept them from being legit title contenders has been their embarrassing defenses.

That's why Alex Grinch was brought in as their new defensive coordinator.

In the first fives games of the season, the Sooners defense looks completely different and has delivered in a big way. However, Oklahoma hasn't been truly tested on that side of the ball until this week against Texas.

You know, the same Longhorns team that put up 48 points in the Red River Rivalry a year ago?

Well, that has not been case this year, as Texas quarterback Sam Ehlinger hasn't been able to get anything going on the ground or in the pass game. He's actually eaten the turf quite a bit, and part of the reason for that is the Sooners coverage in the secondary to go along with a stout front seven.

Oklahoma quarterback Jalen Hurts and big-time wide receiver CeeDee Lamb are as dynamic as it gets, but this Sooners team will go as far as this defense takes them, which is an incredible fact after what we've seen out of Norman for several years.
