Oklahoma City G League Team Signing LiAngelo Ball Means LaVar Ball's Absurd Takes Will Continue

The Oklahoma City Blue, the Thunder's G League affiliate, have signed LiAngelo Ball. It's a step toward a promising career for the young man, but all we're going to be able to talk about again is his dad, LaVar.

LiAngelo is a talented player, but he didn't even crack the top 200 recruits coming out of high school. He's not expected to be a huge star in the NBA, but LaVar Ball certainly isn't going to let anyone think otherwise.

For a young player whose college career was highlighted by a bizarre incident that almost landed him 10 years in a Chinese prison, he sure does get hyped up by his father. The man who once claimed he'd have beaten Michael freaking Jordan one-on-one continued conducting his take train on March 3 when he guaranteed LiAngelo would be the top scorer in the NBA one day.

Discussing LaVar Ball is nearly exhausting. His sons have potential, but he can't help himself. He hypes them up beyond rational thought or expectations -- we all trash him for it -- and he keeps making money.

It's a cycle that just can't seem to stop, and with LiAngelo inching ever closer to the NBA, we can rest easy knowing LaVar is far from done.

Looking on the bright side, LiAngelo has hopefully turned things around from his petty theft days in Asia. We can also hope LaVar's takes don't get any more intelligent. If we're going to be subjected to more, they at least shouldn't be boring.
