Ohio State Stealing 4-Star CB JK Johnson After Clemson Visit Makes Buckeyes Early Winners of Unexpected Dead Period

Dabo Swinney has established himself as one of the best recruiters in all of college football over the past few years. If there's a player he wants, there's a good chance he'll get him.
But the Clemson Tigers coach got beat out by Ohio State for 4-star defensive back and top-60 recruit JK Johnson, a sign that the Buckeyes still have the ability to get some top notch recruits.

The Tigers had a good chance at landing the star from St. Louis, but they weren't able to get him to commit. In fact, he picked Ohio State over Clemson after he took an unofficial visit to see what Swinney had to offer.
It's proof that even though the Buckeyes have had a rough time over the past couple of seasons come the College Football Playoff, they still have it in them to push back against one of the best recruiting machines out there.

Clemson may have gotten the better of them on the field in the CFP, but they can just as easily fight right back in roster construction.
Now the Buckeyes are off to the perfect start for the 2021 class. Ryan Day, along with top recruiters Brian Hartline and Kerry Coombs, are working overtime during this unexpected dead period to make sure the Buckeyes are in great position once (hopefully) some level of normalcy returns to the college football landscape.
