Coming into the 2019-2020 season, the NBA was serious about being strict about having accurate player heights for everyone. New Orleans Pelicans rookie Zion Williamson is now officially one of the first victims, as his listed height of 6-7 in his one-and-done year Duke University was apparently less than accurate.

How Tall is Zion Williamson?

The NBA wanted players listed at their actual heights-- that is, without shoes on. Shoes add around an inch, so Zion has officially checked in at 6-6.

An inch of height shouldn't matter, as Williamson is definitively one of the most anticipated first-year players in recent NBA memory thanks to his insane combination of athleticism, power, and speed all packaged in a 285-pound body.

Wait, is Zion Williamson Actually Only 6-6?

Yes. Well, probably. After all, Kevin Garnett and Bill Walton were both always listed at 6-11 despite each being noticeably over seven feet in reality.

The weight might be the bigger concern, as one would wonder if he could withstand the grueling NBA season with the amount of pressure he's going to put on his body. The New Orleans Pelicans have likely already figured out a way to keep Zion playing at peak physical condition at his weight, and it's only a matter of time before we find out if it works.

Don't write off Zion because of his apparent lack of height. He's one of a kind.
