Four years ago on Thursday, Terry Collins went on one of the greatest officiating rants you will likely ever see, backing his starter, Noah Syndergaard, for chasing Chase Utley off the plate

In honor of his former manager, Syndergaard paid tribute to his skipper by sharing the video with a kind message.

Check out the NSFW tirade and Syndergaard's reaction below.

Syndergaard seems to cherish those days, likely because the Mets have been on a downward spiral since.

Now, for a little context here. Back in 2015, Collins led the Mets to the World Series, and they dispatched of the Dodgers in the NLDS along the way. During the series, LA second basemen (and long-time Phillies enemy) Chase Utley took an egregious slide that broke the fibula of Mets infielder Rubén Tejada.

While we don't know if Tejada's presence would have changed the season's outcome, he was a valuable part of the Mets roster, and Utley's slide was a questionable one for sure. The Mets released Tejada that offseason and his MLB career would never be the same.

Syndergaard knew what he was doing, but a throw behind the back was not worthy of an ejection, especially considering what Utley did to Tejada. The umpire knew the situation and wanted to avoid any controversy, but perhaps a warning would have been more than enough.

Collins was absolutely true to character and defended his team here. And for all Mets fans and players, that likely only made Collins an even better manager in their book.
