The NFL announced Tuesday that the playoffs will officially be expanding starting with the 2020 season. There will be two extra Wild Card games, and that means two extra broadcasts for networks.

NBC and CBS added a game apiece, and one interesting note from the news release is that the CBS game will also add a kid-friendly broadcast on Nickelodeon.

Adding a game with a separate broadcast specifically for a young audience is an innovative move for the NFL. Hopefully, the broadcast breaks down the game in a simpler fashion, as opposed to just being campy.

All of this broadcast news just means more money in the pockets of NFL owners. A broadcast geared toward kids does no harm to the league, and helps pique the interest of younger fans, who may be lost when Tony Romo is breaking down formations in real time.

Parents who want to yell unflattering things at the television during this one game now have an excuse to have their kids go watch the Nickelodeon broadcast in a different room.
