Nick Saban Reveals Why He's Always in Such a Bad Mood at Press Conferences

University of Alabama head football coach Nick Saban is famous for a lot of things. There's the NFL draft picks, bowl game wins, national championship victories, and of course, the press conferences.
Saban is normally not in the best mood during these events and is known for short and sarcastic responses to any questions from the media. After another SEC Media Day full of reporters waiting for the usual memorable line, Saban revealed why he gets so annoyed with the press.

Simply put, he's not answering questions for the media. He's talking to his team.
So when the media gives him an opportunity to give his team a message for the season or the upcoming game, he takes full advantage of it. And it obviously works considering how well the Crimson Tide perform every week.

Saban said that he never intends to make anybody look bad, but that doesn't hold him back from getting his message across if it means his guys will get better.
"Sometimes, I’m just trying to get a message across through the media to our team. [...] I think you guys use me sometimes to create a little news, so I’m going to use you to create a little news to our team.”

The Crimson Tide have been led by Saban since 2007 and in that time have won six SEC Championships and five national championships. The Tide are front runners for the title again in the 2019 season.
