Former NFL running back Ray Rice has seen his football legacy evaporate into nothing, as the three Pro Bowls he made with the Baltimore Ravens and the Super Bowl ring on his finger are mere footnotes in light of the aggravated assault of his then-fiancee (now wife) Janay Palmer, a horrific moment that was captured via an elevator surveillance camera.

Since then, Rice has been making the rounds as a speaker, drawing on his experience to educate future generations not to repeat his grave mistakes. Now, Nick Saban and Alabama have decided to bring the former Rutgers University standout on board, and he will speak to the Crimson Tide about how to conduct oneself around a woman.

"He’s going to be here as a Title IX speaker to the team [Thursday night], which I think is a good thing for our players," Saban said.

It may sound shocking at first, but Rice has tried to clean himself up following what ended his NFL career so abruptly. He even offered to reach out to troubled Cleveland Browns running back Kareem Hunt when his own infamous video leaked depicting an ugly attack against a woman in a hotel hallway.

If Rice is truly remorseful of what he did and wants to make a difference by imparting the wisdom that he accrued from going through what he went through, then he should be allowed to speak to Alabama. He's living proof of what a promising young man should absolutely never become under any circumstances.
