With Miguel Cabrera's mobility dwindling to the point that a permanent DH move is likely, Tigers outfielder Nicholas Castellanos was viewed as the successor to Miggy at first base. However, the Detroit right fielder refused a move to first, instead choosing to stick in the right field hole that he has manned for the last several seasons.

Castellanos' reluctance came from the fact that the Tigers are rebuilding, and he only wanted to move to first if he received a long-term extension.

Castellanos, who is hitting .260 this year while leading the AL in doubles with 21, seems to be preparing himself for an eventual trade as the Tigers look to stockpile young assets.

While his refusal to switch positions and seemingly open courting of other teams might rub Tigers fans the wrong way, he's the best player on their roster at this moment in time.

Castellanos himself seems to have stopped just short of demanding a trade or contract extension, as refusing to move to a less physically taxing position is a good indication he doesn't want to be there.
