The Leafs come into the season with same core led by Auston Matthews and John Tavares, and look to maintain those Stanley Cup aspirations. The Senators, on the other hand, will look towards defenseman Thomas Chabot to keep them competitive this season.

These franchises appear to be heading in opposite directions, though the Leafs are coming off a disappointing seven-game first-round ouster against the Boston Bruins last postseason befitting of a much less favored team.
