New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady posted a GIF on Instagram depicting him having a catch with suspended wide receiver Josh Gordon, and everybody wants to know whether the troubled former star could return to the NFL.

Sorry Pats fans, but there has been no indication that his reinstatement is imminent.

Gordon was banned indefinitely for violating the terms of his previous reinstatement for breaking the league's drug policy in December of 2018, but ultimately decided to step away on his own terms to recover from a mental health standpoint.

In March, NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell said the priority was to make sure Gordon was doing “what he needs to do to get his life on the right track." Only once he felt Gordon had taken that necessary step would the league “get to that place” of determining a return date.

At his best, Josh Gordon is a game-changing player. He showed that in 2013 as a member of the Cleveland Browns when he was named a Pro-Bowler and First-Team All-Pro for recording 87 receptions, 1,646 yards and 9 touchdowns.

However, off-the-field demons continue to derail the career of a once promising wide-out.

While Patriots fans are hopeful that he can return and act as another weapon in Tom Brady's arsenal, there is still no date set for the former Baylor star's return.
