Patriots Gifting Chiefs AFC's No. 2 Seed Has Completely Turned the Playoffs Upside Down

Prayers were answered in Kansas City, while a living nightmare has arrived for long-suffering (just kidding!) New England Patriots fans. In a shocker, the defending champs fumbled away the No. 2 seed in the AFC postseason with a 27-24 loss to Miami in Week 17.

While those inside Gillette Stadium were bummed, the opposite was true at Arrowhead Stadium, as Chiefs fans went nuts when they heard the news. KC now has a first-round bye, and will host their game in the divisional round.

Who would have imagined this happening? Now, instead of resting up during Wild Card week and getting healthy as they almost always get to do, the Pats will take on either the Titans, Steelers or Raiders. While they should be heavy favorites regardless of whom they play, if the Dolphins can beat them in Foxboro, why can't one of these teams?

New England is actually playing in the Wild Card round for the first time since 2009. And it's all because of Sunday's stunner.

For the Chiefs, they'll now go from potentially traveling to New England in the conference semis to hosting them in KC instead. This is the kind of major change -- courtesy of FitzMagic, no less -- that can turn the entire NFL postseason on its head.

The Patriots completely blew it, and gave Kansas City a late Christmas gift in the process. Unbelievable. The consequences will be felt.
