The best of the MLB free agent pool has started to dry up now that the 2019 World Series champion Washington Nationals locked up Stephen Strasburg on a seven-year, $245 million contract to stay with the only franchise he has ever been a part of.

No-brainer.

Once the deal was made official, fans rightly started celebrating across social media in support of the World Series MVP coming back to the Nats. And in response to the outflowing of positivity they saw, the Nationals' official Twitter account marked the occasion with a gem.

Strasburg was selected by the Nationals No. 1 overall in the 2009 MLB Draft and has been with the team ever since, compiling a career record of 112-58 with a 3.17 ERA.

However, he has been even better during the playoffs; he owns baseball's third-best playoff ERA since 1913, trailing only two Hall of Famers in Mariano Rivera and Sandy Koufax.

Strasburg has been an amazing presence for his squad, and the DC faithful know it better than anyone.

They can expect many happy years still to come from the celebrated ace.

Strasburg is a obviously a fan favorite in DC, and those fans would love nothing more for their superstar to spend his entire career with the Nationals. And it seems like that feeling is mutual.
