Major League Baseball may have to get creative to get in a full 2020 season. One problem that arises is playing games in cities that have been hit particularly hard during the coronavirus pandemic.

New York City is one epicenter of the virus and that would be further complicated having large crowds gather for baseball games in a few months. The league has reportedly discussed a contingency plan where both New York teams would play home games on the road to start the year.

Seeing the New York Mets and New York Yankees playing home games on the road would be an odd sight. However, the entire season will be affected by this current delay and several teams may not be able to play home games. Such a scenario could also be an option for the Seattle Mariners, as that area has also been hit hard by the coronavirus.

Playing a full schedule will be a challenge in 2020. Having teams play home games on the road is one solution that could salvage the season and prevent a full cancellation.
