VIDEO: Mike Vrabel's Take on Titans QB Situation Suggests He Doesn't Have a Real Plan

Though he hasn't performed all that well in 2019 -- and for much of his pro career, for that matter -- it was still a bit shocking when Marcus Mariota was benched in the middle of the Tennessee Titans' clash against the Denver Broncos this past weekend in favor of backup Ryan Tannehill. Well, the team continued to back that notion on Tuesday when they announced that Tanny would remain the starter for the foreseeable future. It's a decision that left Titans fans clamoring for an explanation from head coach Mike Vrabel, and, as it turns out, his largely empty explanation on Wednesday will be leaving devotees wishing for something, anything else.

"We're trying to get a little spark," said Vrabel, "Trying to evaluate what we're doing and how we're functioning as an offense...I just felt like now was the time."

It's almost as if the 44-year-old head coach is purposely trying to exasperate his discombobulated fan base, and he continued to do so by asserting that Mariota's benching is nothing more than a week-to-week decision that could change at any time.

When asked if Mariota would start again in 2019, Vrabel said, "I wouldn’t rule anything out. This is a decision that we made for this week. We’re going to need Marcus in some form or fashion throughout the season, but I think the most important thing is this week.”

Thank you, Vrabel. Seriously, thank you for clearing up absolutely NOTHING. It's really fine to not act like its a big deal that you decided to bench Mariota, the Titans supposed franchise quarterback who is in the final year of his $20.9 million contract.

Is Vrabel not aware of the importance of optics? He could have at least pretended he was confident in his compromise to move forward with Tannehill, and his reluctant tone just proves that he doesn't have a strong plan moving forward.
