The New York Yankees surprised their fan base when they decided to make a trade for veteran outfielder Mike Tauchman from the Colorado Rockies. The outfielder was not a well-known name, having only played in 52 games prior to joining the Yankees.

Well, after trading Phillip Diehl to Colorado in order to secure Tauchman's services, the Yankees are reaping the benefits of their faith in the 28-year-old.

In a matchup with his former team, Tauchman made the Rockies regret that deal. He went 3-for-4, scoring a pair of runs and swiping a base, in what was a statement game for the left fielder.

As a matter of fact, Tauchman's not the only ex-Rockies player to be putting in work against his former club. DJ LeMahieu went 2-for-5 with 2 RBI and 2 runs, and Atam Ottavino struck out the side in the sixth inning.

In 52 games for the Rockies, mostly as a pinch-hitter, Tauchman failed to hit a home run. But he's looking like a vastly improved player since moving out to the Bronx, and while he's not a regular in the Yankee lineup, he makes the most of his opportunities.

The Rockies ran out of patience for the Bradley University standout, and now he's making them pay for it.
