Things were made official in Dallas on Monday morning, as Mike McCarthy has been hired to replace Jason Garrett as head coach. While Jerry Jones is undoubtedly ecstatic to get this deal done so quickly, Dak Prescott should be fired up too.

Why? Well, not only does he have a new offensive-minded head coach ready to help him grow behind center, but a hire like this shows how invested Jones is on winning now. And he'll also want to keep Prescott happy by finally giving him the contract he's wanted for so long.

There's no rebuild going on in Dallas. They have Prescott, Ezekiell Elliott, one of the best offensive lines in the league and a powerful defense. This team has been built to compete for Super Bowls. With McCarthy now in the mix, Jones surely believes he can help the offense get to the next level.

They wouldn't have brought in McCarthy if Prescott wasn't the answer for the long haul. Keep in mind, the man threw for 4,900 yards and 30 touchdowns this season. Those are the kinds of numbers you'd expect with a franchise QB. Now, it's time for Jones to pay him like one.

With McCarthy reportedly signing a five-year deal, it'd be a pretty safe bet to say Prescott will be his signal caller during that tenure. How much Jones ends up giving the young QB, though, is something we'll have to wait to find out.
