Mike Francesa's Home Run Derby Shot at Analytics is New Low Even for Him
By Mark Powell

Mike Francesa is a radio legend, but much like Michael Kay in the New York ratings, the game of baseball has passed him by.
All jokes aside, Francesa has been talking baseball longer than most of his listeners have been alive. Yet, he's the classic example of an old head being unwilling to accept new ways of thinkings. As it pertains to MLB, analytics will forever be the ire of fans and analysts alike who prefer the good old days of batting average, home runs, RBI and wins.
Francesa took to twitter just prior to the Home Run Derby to unleash his latest...well, we're not really sure what to call this. Sarcasm, I guess?
Just heard in HR Derby it is good to hit the ball hard. Thank goodness for the new analytics.

You've added nothing to this conversation.
Francesa is still churning strong on the airwaves, but it's tough for him to relate to younger fans and this surely won't help. If anything, he's been the butt of more jokes on twitter than he's gained new followers of late. Similar to Skip Bayless, we're all in this for the punch line.

Hang in there, Mike. Maybe don't watch the statcast broadcast on ESPN2.
