Comebacks don't last forever, of course.

Just a few years after departing the airwaves with a grandiose "app idea" in mined, New York sports personality Mike Francesa says he will leave his program on WFAN for the second time this December.

Francesa says he will leave afternoon drive in December, though that does not necessarily mean he's leaving the station entirely; there may be a limited role with the network in his future.

Francesa first left WFAN in late 2017 after 30 years with the station, including 19 with Chris Russo on "Mike and the Mad Dog," as well as 29 years total doing afternoon drive. However, he returned just four months later with a shorter show, in order to accommodate space for the show succeeding his, CMB (Carlin, Maggie, and Bart).

Francesa has been embroiled in a number of controversies during recent editions of his solo show, including his ratings war with Michael Kay, and his feud with fellow WFAN personality Boomer Esiason and both of his co-hosts, first Craig Carton, and now Gregg Giannotti.

He ventured out after his first retirement by creating the Mike's On app, a pay app with content exclusively tailored to Francesa fans. Is further development of that app to follow this announcement?
